What Does All Natural and Organic Really Mean?

Jerky Direct – Why We Don’t Use Corn-Fed Meat in our Jerky

Huge industrialized farms and mass meat production have taken over the world. Profit-driven technologies and a proliferation of unproven chemicals have, in many ways, replaced what nature intended for our health, we are the innocent victims.

For the first time in all history, because of cheap, subsidized corn productions in this country, million of animal are not raised in close confinement and fed on diets that are not healthy for them.

There is an increasing high wall that keeps the public from seeing there huge industrial livestock operations. It would ruin your appetite to visit these CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations.)

Most antibiotics sold in the United States today end up in animal feed. Such heavy use is commonly known to create superbugs — anti-biotic-resistant strains of bacteria that can be deadly.

In these huge feedlots animals are forced to live mainly on corn, not grass. Why? Because it’s cheaper. Instead of grazing for 4-5 years from birth to slaughter, animals are now brought to slaughter within 14 – 16 months. They are fed tremendous quantities of corn and an arsenal of drugs. Thousands of gallons of liquefied fat and protein supplements are pumped into their troughs every day. They are feed from vats of liquid vitamins and synthetic estrogen as well as 50-pound sacks of the antibiotics Rumensin and Tylosin. A little silage and alfalfa hay are thrown into the roughage.

Animals can’t live on such a diet for very long. It would blow out their livers and kill them. So they are bred and fed to get to slaughter quickly, and the antibiotics keep them alive long enough to slaughter. They would not survive on this diet without antibiotics.

The fats they consume often come from beef tallow, a form of cannibalism that carries its own risks. Protein is a brown goop made of molasses and urea (made from natural gas).

The meat that comes from these animals is much less healthy than meat from grass-fed animals because it’s far lower in omega-3s, and CLAs. It’s marbled, tender, and bland — just right for the tastes of Americans, but definitely not right for our health.

The waste from these feedlot animals can’t be used for fertilizer because  it’s too toxic. It pollutes water-ways and kills as well as genetically modifies fish.

Turkey Jerky Cassarole

– 2 cans (10 3/4 ounces each) Cream of Mushroom Soup
– 1 cup milk
– 2 cups frozen peas
– 2 pouches chopped JERKY-DIRECT ORIGINAL ALL-NATURAL TURKEY JERKY
– One Half (1/2) of a 12-ounce package medium egg noodles (about 4 cups), Cooked and drained
– 2 tablespoons plain dry bread crumbs
–  tablespoon butter, melted

1 – Stir the soup, milk, peas, turkey jerky and noodles in a 3-quart casserole. Stir the bread crumbs and butter in a small bowel. Set aside.

2 – Bake the turkey mixture at 400 degrees, for 30 minutes or until hot and bubbling. Stir the turkey mixture. Sprinkle with the bread crumbs mixture.

3 – Bake for 5 minutes or until the bread crumb mixture is golden brown.
